PATCHWALL

Remove PatchWall on Mi TV? Replace Home with a Recovery Plan

If you want to remove PatchWall, start by deciding what “remove” means: opening a different Home, hiding content or disabling a package. You may only need the first of those.

Replacing Home is different from uninstalling PatchWall

A different launcher can give you a simpler starting screen without deleting the manufacturer’s launcher. Leaving a working Home available is useful if the new one fails to open. Hiding a tile in a custom launcher only changes that launcher’s layout; the underlying package can remain enabled.

Disabling a package affects more than the visible tile. System uninstall or firmware modification goes further again. TVPilot’s normal reviewed flow does not root the TV, flash firmware or uninstall system packages.

Check the exact Xiaomi firmware first

Mi TV branding is not a compatibility test. Find the model and firmware in the TV’s About screen and compare them with TVPilot’s supported profile. The currently reviewed automatic profile is MiTV4I / magnolia PI.3698; other builds are not covered by that result.

The development implementation can offer PatchWall as a reviewed optional package on that profile. That is not a blanket instruction to disable it on every Xiaomi TV. A dedicated PatchWall remote key, Home selection and manufacturer services can behave differently across models.

Keep a way back before a reviewed change

  1. Record which Home currently opens and how your usual remote buttons behave.
  2. Confirm that a fallback launcher and the TV’s normal settings remain accessible.
  3. Review the exact package and Home operations, including their recorded previous values.
  4. Keep the phone’s local recovery record and the TV’s debugging authorization available.

A recorded Restore reverses scoped operations; it is not a complete firmware image or a factory reset. Changes made later outside the app can produce recovery conflicts.

Test more than the first Home launch

Check Home, Back, the branded remote button, casting, a regular streaming app and HDMI switching. Reboot and check Home again. If a feature breaks, stop experimenting and use the matching recovery path. Do not keep disabling more packages to hide the symptom.

Changing Home does not guarantee ad-free apps or faster playback. For unwanted promotions, distinguish the launcher surface from ads inside streaming apps. For general lag, work through the slow Mi TV checklist first.

TVPilot availability and limits

TVPilot is still in development. Automatic changes require supported firmware and a reviewed plan; final production acceptance remains separate. The public APK is not available yet. You can check the Android download status below without downloading an unapproved build.
